Each year 112,000 babies, children and teens rely on Providence Children’s Health for compassionate care, hope and healing. Some arrive as premature babies. Some have chronic conditions or challenges. Some are healthy but are affected by the medical conditions of family members. When children are involved, illness and injury affect entire families. Thanks to generous donors, we help families navigate the twists and turns in each child’s health care journey with programs including:
Swindells Resource Center provides families free resources, information, education, and peer-to-peer support. Providence cares for more children with special health care needs than any other health system in Oregon.
Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children is the first and only pediatric skilled nursing facility in the Pacific Northwest. Donor support has been essential for decades, improving facilities, providing specialized equipment and supporting activities that enhance our care and the dignity and quality of the children’s lives. Our respite program helps families with children who are medically fragile have a chance to rest and recharge.
Children’s Development Institute provides comprehensive, family-centered care to children with special needs from infancy through adolescence. Specialized equipment, additional therapy time and family support services are all funded by donors.
Newborn Services and Research gives all babies a strong start in life. Twenty percent of Oregon babies are born at a Providence hospital. Funding brings equipment and training to community hospitals and specialized equipment and family support to our neonatal intensive care units. Research efforts have national reach, helping improve care for our community’s newest members.
Safety Net for Families Fund supports unmet needs of families receiving care in our clinics, family practices and pediatric specialty clinics. The fund provides temporary rental assistance, prenatal vitamins, diabetes supplies, transportation vouchers and other needed items and services not covered by insurance.
